A couple of years ago Patric Anderssson, nightclub manager and dj, met musician Anders Johansson at Sturecompagniet in Stockholm. Patric who had recently opened "Jazzroom", a bar at Sturecompagniet that had live contemporary jazz, had booked Anders hip band Nuthouse. "Jazzroom " was a melting pot for the developing jazz sceene, where djs and musicians met, and a couple of weeks later Anders joined Patrics dj-sets with his soulful guitar. A few months later Anders suggested, that instead of playing to music recorded by others, they should programme their own grooves to play in the dj-sets. The duo was enormously successful and played along the different clubs in Stockholm, Cafe ópera, Halvtrappa, Chiaro, Bubbla etc…. When Patric became Club manager at the big nightclub Berns, he contracted Anders as music manager and they arranged the studio beats for a full live band. Stockholm JazzBeat Project was born. With the grooves sampled in to the Akai mpc, Anders invited the Swedish jazz elite, Jonas Kullhammar, Bosse Broberg, Per "Ruskträsk" Johansson, Gustavo Bergalli and many more, to play in a weekly session. Trough two years Berns hosted Alicia Keys, St. Germaine, Gotam Project, De la Soul, Isaac Hayes, White Stripes, and when the members of Buena Vista Social Club joined SJBP for a unforgettable night with fantastic performances by all the musicians and 500 people on the dance-floor going crazy, Anders and Patric decided to record an album. The ambition was to mix the "mechanic" sound of the club music with the "organic" sound of jazz music. Mission completed and album about to be released. Apart from the original members of Stockholm Jazz Beat Project, the album also have guest appearances by Jonas Kullhammar sax., Lisa Östergren vocals, Bosse Broberg trumpet, Martin Höper double bass, Alfredo Chacon vibraphone & percussion.
